Brazilian Karen Fernandes dominated the XCC race at the Pan American Mountain Bike Championships in Paraguay, currently taking place in San Juan, Paraná. The competition, which began on April 15 and runs until Sunday the 19th, has already yielded positive results for the Brazilian delegation, which has now won three titles.
This Friday, the Brazilian took the gold, ahead of Chilean Catalina Vidaurre in a close finish, as Vidaurre attacked in the final meters and nearly snatched the title. Fellow Brazilian Raiza Goulão completed the podium.
It’s worth noting that on the previous day, Chile also excelled in the junior categories, as the team comprised of Martín Ramos, Bruno Sánchez, and representatives from the Proracers mountain bike school, Violeta Lira and Magdalena Carrasco, won the gold medal and the Pan American title. Colombia completed the podium in second place, while Argentina took the bronze.
Likewise, in the mixed relay, Maximiliano San Martín, Guillermo Varas, Antonia Rodríguez, Florencia Monsálvez, Ignacio Gallo, and Catalina Vidaurre secured second place, finishing behind Brazil and ahead of Colombia, which took third.
In the coming days, the competitions will focus on the short track and Olympic cross-country events in the various categories of the Pan American Games in Paraguay.
