The Venezuelan cyclist Lilibeth Chacón (Merquimia Proyecta) was crowned champion of the Women’s Tour of Colombia this Sunday, which ended with a circuit of 88.2 kilometers in Bogotá, where the Ecuadorian Miryam Núñez prevailed to ratify foreign dominance in the race.

Although she had participated on several occasions, the Venezuelan had not been able to climb to the top of the podium as she did on this occasion in which she demonstrated a manifest superiority by winning four fractions and in which she wore the leader’s jacket for five days.

“I overcame many problems during the race. I punctured, the changes did not work for me sometimes. It is a very great emotion, today was a day of suffering, you have to have a cold mind to face these things,” Chacón told reporters referring to to the problems that he had to overcome in the last stage.

She thanked her colleagues for the support she had throughout her career and confirmed how much this success represented: “The title tells me that all the sacrifices have been worth it.”

Chacón (Merquimia Proyect) also took the title of the mountain, which further enhances her title in the individual general. The Venezuelan succeeds the Ecuadorian Miryam Núñez (Liro Sport), winner in 2020.
