Mariana Pajón and Diego Arboleda asserted their favorite conditions and prevailed in the fifth edition of the International BMX Light Championship, in Colombia, which brought the 2022 BMX season to an end.

On the Antonio Roldán Betancur track, in Medellín, the fifteenth edition of the International Championship of Lights was held, with the participation of more than 1,700 bicyclists, representing 13 nations and 169 clubs.

On Friday, the last finals in the Championship category were held, where Mariana Pajón shone, winning the grand final, in which she beat Mariana Agudelo and Nicole Foronda, who completed the podium.

“Happy to run here at home. Happy to close the year like this, in my mountains, with my people. Today I also want to thank the girls who ran and also tell them that my legs are very bad, thanks to them. I feel very proud to have to finish until the end. This litter of athletes is very strong and I want to congratulate them”, said the ‘Queen of BMX’.

For his part, Diego Arboleda took the triumph of the International Championship of Lights in Medellín, by winning the final and beating his countrymen Juan Esteban Naranjo and Mateo Carmona, who completed the podium. While Sergio Ignacio Salazar, took first place in the open master category.

“Thank you very much to the public, that support was felt and thank God things happened (…) this was brutal, very good for the organization: The transmission, all the lights and we will be here next year,” said Arboleda.

This year’s International Championship of Lights had the participation of more than 1,700 competitors adding up all categories, representing 13 nations and 169 clubs.
