The double Olympic champion and multi-monarch world champion, Mariana Pajón, leads the embassy of Colombia and America at the opening this weekend of the 2023 season of the UCI BMX Racing World Cups, in Sakarya, Turkey.
The Colombian national coach Fabio Peña summoned five athletes to face this start in the elite category, led by Mariana Pajón and Gabriela Bolle, in the women’s branch, and Carlos Ramírez, Diego Arboleda and Juan Carlos Diaz, in the men’s.
Andrea Escobar, Mateo Carmona, Juan Carlos Ramírez, Santiago Suárez and Juan Esteban Naranjo appear in the squad of the South American country, in the elite category, and the Under-23s Carlos Salamanca, Jersy Andrade, Isabela Salazar and Sharid Fayad.
According to the announced competition schedule, the first round will take place on Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m. local time (2:30 a.m. in Colombia), with the finals scheduled to take place after 4:10 p.m. pm (8:10 a.m. Col.).
The second round will take place on Sunday, at the same times as the first. Both days will be broadcast live through the Youtube channel of the International Cycling Union.
The two stages in Sakarya will be the first two rounds of the ten scheduled in the 2023 season of the BMX Racing UCI World Cups, which will be held in Papendal, the Netherlands (June 24 and 25); Sarrians, France (September 23 and 24), and Santiago del Estero, Argentina (October 7 and 8, and October 13 and 14).
