Maximiliano Richeze (Chimbas Te quiero) climbed to the top of the podium in the first stage of the Giro del Sol 2022, which started under the scoring system of laps on the 1.6-kilometer track located inside the El Pinar campsite.
The 38-year-old experienced cyclist won the prologue and will start as leader on the second day of the San Juan race, which in this edition pays tribute to the recently deceased rider Nicolás Naranjo.
The fraction, which started with 136 cyclists, had four qualifying rounds on the Rivadavia track, each of them four laps and scoring sprints were made in each of the passes through the finish line, awarding 5, 3, 2 and 1 point to the first four classified. The most regular of the day was Maxi ‘El Atómico’ Richeze.
The big winner, with 9 points, was Richeze (Chimbas Te Quiero), followed by Nicolás Tivani (Agrupación Virgen de Fátima) with 7 units and by Maximiliano Navarrete (Municipality of Rawson) with 6.
The traditional gaucho race, which is part of the San Juan route calendar in Argentina, is represented by Colombian cycling. Team Recapi Llaneros set out with the beetles Camilo Vargas, Héctor Rivera, Hans Ariza and Sebastián Hernández.
The squad is complemented by Argentines Gonzalo Jorda, Marcos Jacamo and Ernesto Olivares, who will seek to be protagonists during the 4 stages in dispute until next Sunday.
