JALISCO, MEXICO. The Mexican Katia Martinez and the Colombian Miguel Angel Hoyos were crowned this Sunday in the great test of the Pan-American Road Cycling Championship, which took place in this city of Jalisco.

On the women’s 76-kilometer route, the Mexican Martinez had no problems to overcome her adversaries, mainly the Colombian Elizabeth Castaño, who in her journey had in the sights of the goal.

Martinez stopped the clock in 2: 01.03 hours to take the gold, and leave with the silver to his compatriot Victoria Velasco and third entered the Colombian Castaño, both with the same chrono that the winner.

In the men’s sector, at the end of 122 kilometers, the Colombian Hoyos was the winner by stopping the clock in 2: 45.28 hours and leaving in second the Mexican Ricardo Peña with 2: 45.30 and in third place the Brazilian Vinicius Rangel with 2: 45.33 .

In this way, the youth cycling event that brought together the best competitors in the area concluded.

At the end of the competition, the president of the Mexican Cycling Federation, Edgardo Hernandez, was pleased by the performance of the Mexicans in this fair, as they showed the progress they have had to face international competitions.

He indicated that, in the case of the women’s branch, young women have shown development and in a short time will be in the elite to fight for a place in the national team for the Olympic process to Paris 2024.
