This Friday will begin the competitions of the third stop of the Nations Cup 2024, which will be held in the velodrome of the National Cycling Center of Mattamy, in Milton, where the last possible points will be distributed in view of the Olympic qualification for Paris 2024.
The sports program will begin at 10:00 a.m., local time, with the qualifiers in the team pursuit event for both women and men, and in the team sprint, also for women and men. Around 6:00 p.m., the finals of the elimination, team pursuit and team sprint will be held, which will award the first six medals of the event.
On Saturday, April 13, the women’s sprint and madison and the men’s omnium and keirin will be contested, with the finals to be held between 6:00 and 9:00 pm.
Sunday will culminate the UCI 2024 Nations Cup season with the celebration of the women’s keirin and omnium, as well as the men’s sprint and madison, in a program that will celebrate the finals after 4:00 pm local time and ending around 7:30 pm.
For the Americas, in addition to the Canadian riders, teams from Colombia, Mexico, the United States, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago have confirmed their participation, countries that currently have, according to the world ranking, one or more names in Olympic places or very close to them.
It should be remembered that only the two best results of the three legs of this competition are taken into account for Paris 2024, so there will be countries that no longer add up and others who urgently need to add this last score, although it is something that mainly affects the team events. However, there are nations that have wanted to ensure that they have three scores to discard the worst result.
