LIMA. Day 1 of Road Cycling at the 2019 Pan American Games Lima culminated and handed out its first medals in the time trial that started in San Miguel.
The Colombian Daniel Martinez and the American Chloe Dygert took the gold in the time trial cycling of the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, which both cyclists dominated with authority.
Martinez prevailed in the 38-kilometer race that ran along the Costa Verde, the front over the Pacific Ocean of the city of Lima, with a time of 44: 22.71, with an advantage of 1: 54.73 over the second classified, the Brazilian Magno Do Prado.
The Colombian runner, who was proclaimed champion of his country against this time this year, was the best in all the sets and never gave other options to discuss the medal.
In third place was the Chilean José Rodríguez, with a time 2: 02.80 behind the winner.
In women, on a route of 18.5 kilometers, Dygert made a time of 23: 36.51 and beat the Trinidadian Teniel Cambell, silver, by 1: 13.72.
In third place was the Canadian Laurie Jussaume, who was 2: 50.63 behind the winner.
Like men, the winner dominated the test from start to finish.
This is the second gold that Dygert obtains in the Pan-American ones of Lima, after taking the gold in the persecution by equipment.
The Pan American champion was also a silver medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, and gold at the track cycling world championships in Hong Kong (2017) and Apeldoorn (Netherlands) in team and individual chase modes. (depor.com)

Colombian Daniel Martínez won gold in the time trial
The Colombian Daniel Martínez won the gold medal in the individual time trial on Wednesday at the start of the road race in Lima 2019. The cyclist took his revenge after not participating in the Tour de France.
The 23-year-old Colombian cyclist scored a time of 44:22, followed by the Brazilian Magno Do Prado Nazaret, who took the silver. José Rodríguez scored a bronze for Chile.
“This medal represents a lot for my country … We don’t win a long-time road medal,” said Martinez, who referred to the cold of Lima as an obstacle in the pre-competition training.
