From February 23 to 26, the Jakarta International Velodrome, in Indonesia, will host the first stop of the UCI Nations Cup season, an event that will bring together the best exponents from 44 countries and six teams on the track, including which will be present nine delegations from our continent.
Barbados, Venezuela, Canada, Colombia, the United States, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico and Suriname are the countries that have already registered riders for the fair, in which they needed a minimum of 250 points in the world ranking in the test in which they participates, with the exception of the two team tests, speed and pursuit.
The summoned tests are the Olympic ones: speed, keirin, ómnium, madison and elimination between the individual ones, as well as the team speed and the team pursuit. This is the first time that a world circuit event has been organized in Indonesia, specifically at the velodrome that hosted the Asian Games in 2018.
Among the figures from America that will enter into action, the Colombians Martha Bayona, Kevin Santiago Quintero, Santiago Ramírez and Cristian Ortega stand out; Venezuelans Angel Pulgar and Hersony Canelon; and the Canadian Kelsey Mitchell, among others
Programming in Jakarta
The event will begin next Thursday the 23rd with the classifications in the team pursuit test in both branches, while the elimination, team speed and team pursuit finals will take place on Friday the 24th.
On Saturday, February 25, those enrolled in the sprint and keirin events will take part. Likewise, the women’s madison and the men’s omnium will be held. Finally, on Sunday 26, the schedule will close with the women’s keirin and omnium and the men’s sprint and madison.
It should be noted that the one in Jakarta will be the first of the three stops scheduled for 2023 in the UCI Nations Cup, which will hold its second date in Cairo, Egypt, from March 14 to 17, and will close its activity in Milton , Canada, April 20-23.
