The new edition of the Tour of Panama 2024, an event that will bring together more than 150 cyclists from different continents from October 8 to 13, was officially presented on September 26 with great expectation and at the height of expectations.

The launching took place with the revelation of the details of this spectacular competition. The ceremony was attended by prominent sports and government personalities, highlighting not only the competitive importance of the Tour, but also its significant economic, cultural and tourism impact for the country.

Among those attending the presentation ceremony were Vicente Carretero, president of the Panamanian Cycling Federation (FEPACI); Guillermo Abadía, deputy director of Pandeportes; Dustin Guerra, director of SerTV; commissioner Jorge Gobea, director of Senafront; Jaime Fernández, director of the National Police; and commissioner Rafael Jurado, deputy director general of the National Naval Air Service.

Also participating in the event were María Vanesa Ford, representing the Vice Minister of Security, Felipe Icaza; Ricardo Goldoni, Deputy Director of Sports of the Municipality of Panama, and Olympic cyclist Franklin Archibold, who will represent Panama in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

 Vicente Carretero, president of FEPACI, highlighted the high level of competition that characterizes the Tour of Panama and took the opportunity to announce the creation of a Cycling School in the province of Chiriqui. This new training center will bear the name of Ramón Carretero

 Herrerías, as a posthumous tribute to one of the key figures in the history of Panamanian cycling. The Tour of Panama 2024, which in its previous edition was won by the Colombian-Spanish cyclist Óscar Sevilla, will have six stages that will cross the provinces of Coclé, Colón and Panama.

 Stages of the Tour of Panama 2024

First stage: On October 8, a team time trial will kick off the event in the town of El Coco, in Penonomé. This will be the first time that this modality is implemented in the history of the competition.

Second stage: There will be a section of sterrato or unpaved road, which will go through the wind farms of El Coco and will culminate in Toabré, in the heights of Coclé.

Stage 3: The cyclists will face the climb to Cerro Marta, in Coclé, an iconic climb that has gained international fame in past editions.

Stage 4: The peloton will move to the Caribbean coast, where they will race between the Colon Free Zone and the Costa Abajo region.

Stage 5: An individual time trial in Colon will take the cyclists from Sherman, over the Atlantic Bridge and back to Sherman, in what promises to be a test of endurance and speed.

Sixth and final stage: On October 13, the curtain will come down on the Cinta Costera 3 in Panama City, on a route that unites the history and modernity of the Panamanian capital.

 With this event, the Tour of Panama 2024 reaffirms its position as one of the most important cycling competitions in the region, contributing to the development of sport and tourism in Panama.
