The world’s best BMX Freestyle cyclists will return to action with the start of the World Cup in Montpellier, the French city that has become one of the epicenters of urban culture.

The event will take place between Wednesday and Sunday, with the participation of two Argentine representatives: Olympic, South American, and Pan American champion José Torres, 31, and 18-year-old Manuel Turone from Neuquén, silver medalist at the last Junior Pan American Games. They are accompanied by Pablo Biffarella and Maximiliano Benadia.

Seventy-two riders have registered for Montpellier, with qualifying starting at 10:00 AM local time. There will be two 60-second runs, with the points from both runs being averaged. Turone will take to the track around 8:40 AM, followed by Torres.

The semifinals will be held on Friday, with the top 24 qualifiers competing. While the finals for both men and women will take place on Saturday, featuring the top 12 skaters. In these finals, the best of the two runs will be used to determine the final ranking.

There, the judges will score the execution, difficulty, flow, style, variety of tricks, landings, height, originality and versatility, progression, risk, and overall use of the course.

The World Cup schedule will consist of four rounds: the second event will be in Birmingham, Alabama, USA (August 6-9), the third in Shanghai, China (October 15-18), and finally, the fourth in Sakai, Japan (November 26-29).
