Sao Paulo – The best of road cycling in the continent will meet in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from May 20 to 26, on the occasion of the Pan American Road Cycling Championships; while the Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI) will hold its Annual Congress at the Novotel Hotel, in this city, on May 22.

This week of pure cycling has been jointly organized by the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC) and the São Paulo Cycling Federation (FPCiclismo), both under the supervision of the Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI), and will bring together cyclists from 29 countries in the Individual Time Trial and Endurance or Road races.

The program includes races in the Elite Men’s, Elite Women’s, Under-23 Men’s, Junior Men’s and Junior Women’s categories. It will undoubtedly be a special moment for cycling fans, with races that promise a high technical level. The event’s arena, where the start and finish line will take place, will be in Via Cambuí, in front of Humanitas College.

The delegations have already started to arrive in São José dos Campos for the logical acclimatization to the competition circuit and so far more than 40 of them have been seen pedaling along the wide and clean streets of a city that has as an attraction the construction of airplanes.

The 19th and the following day, the 20th will be dedicated to official training (10:00 am) on the circuits and the Technical Congress (18:00 pm). On Tuesday 21, the Individual Time Trials will start at 8:00 am, in this order: Junior Women’s LRC (11.5 km), Junior Men’s LRC (23.3 km), S23 Men’s LRC (35.1 km) and Elite Women’s LRC (23.3 km).

After the break forced by the celebration of the COPACI Congress, on Thursday 23, the program starts at 8 am and includes the Elite Men’s LRC (35.1 km), followed by the Junior endurance races: Women’s (59 km) and Junior Men’s (106.2 km).

On Friday 24, starting at 10 a.m., it will be the turn of the U23 Men’s Road Race, with a distance of 159.4 km. On Saturday it will be the turn of the Elite Women’s race, which will cover 113.3 kilometers, starting at 9:00 am. To close the event, the Elite Men will take to the road on Sunday, with a distance of 206.4 kilometers.

The Pan American Road Cycling Championship and the COPACI Congress will be attended by the head of the International Cycling Union, David Lappartient, who will arrive this Monday, May 20, at the Municipality of São José dos Campos, belonging to the Government of the State of São Paulo.
