“We are ready to host the fifth stage of the 2026 Track Cycling Americas Cup this Thursday, May 28th, and Friday, May 29th, at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee,” highlighted Mariana Díaz, representative of the Paraguayan Cycling Federation.

During an interview on Radio Nacional del Paraguay, she emphasized that cyclists from all countries in the region will be present at the competition, as the event offers points for the world ranking.

She noted that the track located at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee is the best in South America and that it will host international competitors for the first time. Finally, she invited track cycling enthusiasts to come to the venue, as admission will be free.

The Track Cycling Americas Cup is an initiative of the Pan American Confederation and consists of eight qualifying events in seven countries. So far, the stages in Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, Chile, Peru, and now Paraguay have already taken place. Only the stages in Brazil and Argentina will remain.

And although, as international CL1 or CL2 events, they are open to riders from any country, the Cup rankings are limited to American countries, with no limit on the number of participating riders from these nations.

Each race consists of sprint, keirin, scratch race, elimination, points race, omnium, and madison, for elite riders of both sexes—in this first edition—although other races and categories may be added to their programs.

The points awarded will be the same as those determined by the UCI for the CL1 (both in Chile) and CL2 events, establishing an individual and national ranking for each discipline and an overall national ranking based on the sum of the points obtained in all disciplines. Regardless of the symbolic prizes, the winner in each discipline will receive free accommodation and meals for the 2027 edition.
