The Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI) confirmed to the Uruguayan Cycling Federation that Punta del Este will host the next Pan American Championship of individual time trial and road, to be held in Maldonado from April 22 to 27.

The event will be held on the Lorenzo Batlle Pacheco promenade, where competitions will be held for the junior, under-23 and elite categories, both in the male and female branches, in which the best of these categories in our continent will be grouped.

This will be the second time that Uruguay hosts the event, the previous one being in 2008 when it was held in Montevideo and the locals won a gold medal and four bronze medals.

The gold medal on that occasion was won by Richard Masacarañas in the road race, finishing ahead of Luis Macías (Mexico) and Otavio Bulgarelli (Brazil). The tacuaremboense clocked 3 hours 56 minutes and 43 seconds, in a 168 km route along the Montevideo promenade.

The last edition of this event was held in São Paulo (Brazil) in 2024, where Uruguay participated with 19 riders and won a bronze medal with Florencia Revetria from Fernandina in the road race of the junior female category.
