The tension and the expectation grow when there is only one week left for the start of the First UCI Unified Cycling World Championship, scheduled in Glasgow, Scotland, between August 3 and 13, 2023, in what is considered an appointment historic because for the first time it will bring together all the modalities of the sport of the connecting rods, except cyclocross.
The 2023 UCI event will include 13 disciplines and more than 8,000 cyclists from at least 120 countries are expected to turn out to crown the new world champions of the International Cycling Union. For the Pan American Confederation, more than 35 delegations will participate in the contest,
Less than a week before the start, Scotland, and especially the city of Glasgow, is already throbbing with the World Cup event that will begin one day before the official opening, since on August 2 there will be competitions with Paracycling on the track, at the Sir Velodrome Chris Hoy.
To celebrate the biggest cycling event in history, the organizers of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships will officially kick off the highly anticipated mega-event with an action-packed Opening Ceremony, taking place in Glasgow’s George Square on Wednesday 2 August from from 17:00.
The Opening Ceremony will feature performances by Scottish artists and citizens, with a mix of professional and community organisations. There’s an exciting lineup of activities, personalities, dance, spoken word and a headlining performance by multi-award winning Scottish singer KT Tunstall.
The Scottish territory will host this unprecedented mega event that will bring together 13 world championships corresponding to as many modalities in the same country and in the same period of time.
