Everything is ready for the celebration of the South American XCO 2023 Mountain Bike Championship that will take place this weekend at the facilities of the Agua Vista complex in the city of San Juan del Paraná in the Department of Itapúa, in Paraguay.

As reported in a press conference with authorities from the Paraguayan Cycling Federation: Bertha Han, vice president of the Federation, and David Insaurralde, who will act as General Coordinator of the South American Championship; the contest will bring together around 350 athletes from 10 nations.

So far, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador and the hosts of Paraguay have already confirmed their presence, which ensures a quality event that will once again put the country in the showcase of continental cycling.

When speaking, Insaurralde highlighted that it is the first time after the ODESUR Games that Paraguay hosts a South American championship again; “The last time a South American championship was held was in 2016,” said the Coordinator.

For his part, the General Director of Sports, Ricardo Deggeller, stated that “from the Odesur Games we have made some modifications to raise the technical level a bit and also make a much more attractive circuit and we are quite proud that this same circuit and the same facilities serve to continue developing this modality.

With this new cycling event, Paraguay once again becomes the epicenter of South American cycling, after a little less than a week ago it successfully hosted the Pan-American track cycling championship, as well as the continental freestyle and flatland events; in which the organizational capacity for large events was demonstrated.
