The Costa Rican Kenneth Tencio managed this Thursday, December 8, to advance to the next round of the BMX Freestyle World Cup that takes place in Gold Coast, Australia, in what will be the last competition of the year for one of the best representatives of this modality in the planet.

The Tico entered among the best 20 runners out of 50 registered where now the task will be to reach the final on Sunday in which the best 12 on the planet will be in a specialty that each year attracts more spectators and practitioners.

“We took a good first step. The idea was to qualify among the 20 semifinalists without showing much. We achieved 17th place with a score of 75.44. Now comes the challenge of reaching the final on Sunday”, indicated Tencio.

The competition was held on the open air track located in the coastal city of the state of Queensland in Australia where the temperature was “fresh”, as the thermometer marked 21 degrees.

“Thank God the time was changed from 10 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon because the temperature was sweltering, we reached 32 degrees in training where we had to use umbrellas during breaks,” Tencio said.

With the changes to avoid the strong temperatures, this Saturday’s semifinal will be at 3:30 p.m. (11:30 p.m. on Friday in Costa Rica).
