Despite this year’s absence of the International UCI Calendar and therefore of the América Tour circuit and category 2.2, the Dominican Cycling Federation is working hard to make the traditional annual Tour with efficient organization and safety levels that allow its return to the elite of the races by stages of the continent.

The Independence tour will be from February 24 to March 1 and this time it will have three circuits, something that will be special according to the president of the Dominican Cycling Federation, Jorge Blas.

And the next edition will be “one of the best Laps” considered Blas. On this occasion, different from the last two editions, they will have “the support of the DIGESETT -General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Security- and of COMIPOL -Military and Police Commission- for security. We are going to do a better lap than the previous ones, because of the security issue, ”said Blas.

A great contribution, since the last two years saw stages suspended due to lack of security. In 2019 the fourth stage ran that fate.

The stages

Blas reported that the stages are already defined.

February 24 will be Santo Domingo-San Cristóbal-Baní-Santo Domingo. The 25: Santo Domingo-San Pedro de Macorís-Santo Domingo. The 26: Santo Domingo-Boca Chica-Monte Plata. The 27: it will be a circuit in Villa Altagracia, which is done there for the third year.

The 28: Santo Domingo-Constanza, which is the queen stage. The 29: a circuit in the monumental area of Santiago de los Caballeros and March 1 closes with another circuit in the Fifth Centenary. “This year we are making a tour for the people, because we are doing more circuits,” Blas explained.
