In an initial feeling-out lap, he launched an attack at the 300-meter mark, breaking away for the remaining 450 meters and taking first place ahead of Ecuadorians Francisco Boné and Josué Triviño.
This is Cachique’s second gold medal in this competition. He was one of the Peruvian medalists at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima and hopes to be part of the team that will face the challenge of hosting the Pan American Games again in 2027.
