Panamanian cycling after the success achieved in the last eight years today allows the Tour a Panama 2024 to start in Penonome, the capital of the province of Cocle, and ride through its landscapes adorned by wind farms.
Penonomé, in the west of the province of Panama Oeste, is the geographical center of the country. It was founded in 1581 by the Spaniards to bring together the aboriginal population of the lands of Nata and Anton. Initially it was a crossing point on the road from Nata de los Caballeros to Portobelo, on the historic road to Las Cruces.
The economic blow and the “green” blow suffered by the central axis of Panama in the face of the social and environmental events that shook this beautiful land after the closing of the mine, marks a sad chapter in history. However, the Tour a Panama 2024 comes as an opportunity to revitalize this thriving area.

More than 600 people staying in different hotels, which will benefit different areas such as: restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations, pharmacies and all the “Penonomeño” commerce will receive a valuable economic injection, in addition to cycling will leave joy and a positive atmosphere for the thriving province of Cocles.
The Panamanian Cycling Federation, in collaboration with Pandeportes, the Mayor’s Office of Panama and the Mayor’s Office of Penonomeño, has worked intensely to guarantee the success of the Tour a Panama 2024. This year, from October 8 to 13, the competition will have six stages, which will cover not only Coclé, but also the province of Colón, culminating in the heart of Panama City.
