Wilmar Paredes (Team Medellín-EPM) decisively secured the 2016 Tour de Beauce title by consolidating his lead on the fifth and final stage, which he won after covering 132.6 kilometers around Saint-Georges.
Colombian dominance was evident in three of the five stages, with victories for Róbigzon Oyola from Tolima in the second, Diego Camargo from Boyacá in the third, and Paredes on the final stage.
The Antioquian cyclist, who proved to be the most consistent rider, climbed to the top of the podium accompanied by his compatriot and teammate Diego Camargo and American Tim McBirney (Project Echelon Racing).
Paredes succeeded his compatriot Diego Camargo, last year’s champion, in the Tour de Beauce record books, and joined Sergio Luis Henao and Darwin Atapuma, both of whom achieved their podium finishes in 2009.
