The next edition of the Tour of Spain will start from the Catalan capital on August 26, the organizers reported today in Barcelona.

The first stage of the Spanish round will be a 14.6 kilometer (km) team time trial through the streets of Barcelona, and the following day the peloton will cover a 181.3 km journey between Mataró and Barcelona.

The director of La Vuelta, Javier Guillén, announced that Barcelona will also host the official presentation of the tour, which will take place at the Palau de la Música Catalana on January 10.

It will be the first time that the capital of Catalonia receives the official start of the Vuelta since 1962, when the famous Iberian race started for the only time from there.

Apart from this initial time trial, Barcelona and its surroundings will hold two more stages. For the moment, we know that the second stage will end in Montjuic and the City Council has ensured that the three-day tour will pass through the most emblematic points of the city. AND

he main objective will be to encourage the greatest number of Barcelonans to enjoy this cycling festival, which will take place on August 26, 2023. La Vuelta also returns to that area after 11 years, since the last time the peloton passed through the region was in 2012, to close a stage.
