The Tropical Challenge of MTB Salinas 2021, was dominated on the eve by the experienced Mexicans Daniela Campuzano and Gerardo Ulloa respectively in ladies and gentlemen.

The class 1 event, scoring the UCI ranking of the discipline, was held on the track in Salinas, Puerto Rico, and it is the preamble to the Pan American Championship of the specialty.

La Campuzano dominated the course with a time of 1:27:43 to overtake Savilia Blunk (USA) and Argentina Sofía Gómez who completed the podium.

In the men’s race Ulloa was the winner, escorted by Chilean Martin Vidaurre and his compatriot Adair Prieto in that order.

In the Junior Men category, Colombian Camilo Andrés Gómez was the winner, Daniel Ibañez (MEX) and Ethan Villaneda (USA) seconded him.

Among the girls, the representatives of the United States, Ruth Holcomb, Lauren Aggeler and Tai Lee Smith took the top positions.

The race took place under a sweltering sun in arid terrain and served as a set-up for all the runners who will be participating in the continental event that starts on the 24th.
