In another finish for the escapees, Maximiliano Navarrete (Gremios por el Deporte) won the sixth stage of the Vuelta de Mendoza 2024, after riding 175 kilometers between the departments of Lavalle and Junín. Argentine Nahuel Méndez (Municipalidad de Guaymallén) remained the leader of the general classification.
The 32-year-old Gaucho rider was followed in the Parque Dueño del Sol by his compatriots Daniel Lucero (Sindicatos Unidos) and Matías Zambrano (Municipalidad de Luján de Cuyo). While the Colombian Nicolás Paredes is still the best rider (SEP de San Juan) in the top 10 of the race.
The initial breakaway was led by Gabriel Maldonado, Denis Heredia, Daniel Lucero, Maximiliano Priario, Christian Moyano, Alejandro Quilci, Enzo Luján and Mauricio Domínguez. Then came Mateo Kalejman and Maximiliano Navarrete, who ended up winning the stage.
The leader of the general classification continues to be Nahuel Méndez, from Mendoza, who maintains a difference of 46 seconds over his pursuers. Laureano Rosas, Sergio Fredes, Mateo Kalejamn, Agustín Durán and Rodrigo Díaz are in a close dispute for the following positions, leaving the competition red hot for the stage that ends this Saturday at the Cristo Redentor and that will start from Uspallata.
