Finally! France’s Cédrine Kerbaol (CERATIZIT-WNT Pro Cycling Team) took the first victory for her country on stage six of the 2024 Women’s Tour de France, which featured a 159.2-kilometer route between Remiremont and Morteau, where Poland’s Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM Racing) easily retained her yellow jersey.
The French rider pulled away from the group of favorites in the final part and then took the solo victory in a smart way. Marianne Vos (Team Visma | Lease a Bike), who was part of the day’s breakaway, crossed the finish line in second place.
The breakaway of the day was led by Justine Ghekiere (AG Insurance – Soudal Team ), Neve Bradbury (Canyon//SRAM), Grace Brown, (FDJ-SUEZ), Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (FDJ-SUEZ), Amanda Spratt (Lidl-Trek), Silvia Persico (UAE Team ADQ), Valentina Cavallar (Arkéa-B&B Hotels), Mischa Bredewold (SD Worx-Protime), Amber Kraak (FDJ-SUEZ) and Anouska Koster (Uno-X Mobility), but they were all neutralized towards the end.
The Tour de France Femmes will continue this Saturday, August 17, with the seventh stage of 166.4 kilometers starting in Champagnole and finishing in Le Grand-Bornand, a hilly day that includes five categorized prizes.
