BOGOTÁ. The prominence of Colombian cycling is reflected in all its splendor in the most important races in the world, and also translates into an undeniable dominance in the international classifications of the UCI, which at the end of the season show how the idols of the nation number 1 of the continent rise up in the vanguard posts.

Miguel Ángel López (Astana Pro Team) has emerged as the best cyclist in the country worldwide thanks to his great performance in the most important events of the calendar, including his podiums in Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España.

Worldwide, Lopez occupied box 14 with 2273 points, followed by Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team), who appears in box 25 with 1588 units. The Boyacá are the 1-2 of America, accompanied on the continental podium by the young star of Team Sky, Egan Bernal, who has 1427 points.

Only the Canadian Michael Woods, bronze in the elite world championship, interrupts the Colombian streak being fourth with 1368 points. Rigoberto Urán, head of ranks and partner in the EF Drapac, closes in fifth place with 1338 units.

The Colombian cyclists account shows the overwhelming figure of 11 of them among the top 20 of the list issued by the governing body of world cycling.
